Video Story Draft

For my video story draft I wanted to make it have a sentimental feel as well as show football clips. It was difficult to make an original video for this project because of the topic I chose. I knew that I wanted to use real clips from me playing in the past, but taking the video of the lake was the best I could get to match the sentimental feel. I had a great time editing this video as I have always loved to edit videos in the past. I intentionally cut between football clips and the shot of the lake and had them alternate for the most part. I also added a small transition that wasn’t overbearing, but also didn’t create confusion for the viewer. The video editing portion of this class was by far the most fun I have had using adobe software mainly because I am the most familiar with premiere as opposed to the others. The cut tool was important to my project because I had two long videos I had to split up into smaller clips to make them go together. I had always wished I had better clips of me playing football for example a clip from the sideline in better quality would have been a great addition to my project, but unfortunately I don’t have any clips like that. I also used the photo I made for my photoshop final because I really liked how that photo turned out and I felt it added to the story. All of these clips I have complete ownership of and I took the video of the lake myself. I had a difficult time learning to use the transition page and apply them evenly to every clip, but once I figured that out I had an easy time with the rest of the editing process.

  1. Hi Ryan,
I really like how you started with music and different perspectives. The dramatic music definitely caught my attention right away! One of my favorite shows of all time is Friday Night Lights, I think your mix of music and football brought out that memory of one of the best TV Show intros I think hearing from the coach and also looking back honestly at your high school career was a very cool idea. One thing I have to commend you on is your transitions, they are clean and seamless. I want to try and see if I could do the same.
The overall flow of your story felt really smooth! It even made me have a few thoughts with how I can improve the flow of my story. One piece of feedback I have is that the video compression and quality of the football highlights are worse than the outdoor video. That may not end up being a huge issue for most, but if there was any way to bring parity to the videos it may make the transitions even cleaner. I am excited to see your final product!
